Make Ready is more than just dusting, vacuuming and cutting the grass. What is the first things you notice when you look at a new house? We start at the curb. Any large oil stains, tire marks should be removed. How does the exterior paint look? Would you buy a house that had cracked, stained or chipping paint? A little touch up paint doesn't take that long, and a good power washing makes a dramatic difference. How does the front door look? A good washing to remove fingerprints and scuffs doesn't hurt. Are the window seals and screens clean? You'd be surprised how quickly they get dirty. How about the windows themselves? What's one of the first things you notice when you enter a house for the first time? How about the smell. Get the carpets and upholstery cleaned, as these are where most odors are stored. Deodorizers won't hurt either. Plug In types or carpet fresh are a good choice. The carpet should be stain free as well as vinyl floors. The trim should be cleaned thoroughly with a soft brush. The appliances should be moved ( if possible ) and cleaned from top to bottom. Any dust and cobwebs on stucco ceilings, lighting fixtures, drapes, etc., should be removed. That includes ceiling fans. Any plants in the house should also be dust free. Restrooms should sparkle and smell clean. A good bleach solution works good. Touch up any caulking that is discolored, cracking or peeling. After your done walk out to the front of your house, then reenter as if you're a first time buyer. Be picky and look around the house for dirt, dust and stains.
